There's one Oscars record to which Tim Burton managed to beat Martin Scorsese by a decade, even though the former's winning film was a box office flop. In 1994, Tim Burton directed his sixth feature film, the black-and-white biopic, Ed Wood. Frequnt Burton collaborator Johnny Depp stars in Ed Wood as the titular cult filmmaker, best known for his campy, low-budget films. Martin Landau plays Bela Lugosi, a horror film actor best known for playing the famous titular vampire in Dracula (1931) and starring in various other classic Universal monster movies. Lugosi was also Wood's lifelong idol, and the film follows their budding friendship and professional collaboration.
