The Machine is based on a true story that comedian Bert Kreischer told during one of his stand-up routines in 2016, and Mark Hamill plays Bert's father, Albert, in the 2023 film, while Kreischer portrays a fictional version of himself. Of course, some elements of the action comedy movie are dramatized and fictionalized for the big screen, like how the comedian's father is portrayed and the trip of a lifetime that the duo goes on. Bert and Albert are kidnapped and taken to Russia together to track down a stolen watch, but the father and son's strained relationship is undoubtedly at the center of the story.
