After a long wait, The Expendables 4 (EXPEND4BLES) is hitting theaters, bringing the franchise back to a hard R rating and continuing its unique brand of tongue-in-cheek mayhem. It’s been a long time coming; the last franchise entry was released in 2014, making it nearly a decade between films. Perhaps for this reason, The Expendables 4’s star-studded cast of newcomers shifts focus from the cadre of all-time great action stars—not to say that series regulars like Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren are totally absent from the proceedings.
