Best of IFA 2023: Billboard’s Picks for Top Consumer Electronics

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Billboard may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

A.I is taking over, but the future might end up looking less like Skynet from the Terminator movies and more like Rosey the robot maid from The Jetsons. At least that’s the impression one might get from some of the products introduced at this year’s edition of IFA, or “Internationale Funkausstellung,” the biggest consumer electronics trade show in Europe — think CES but at the opposite sides of the world and the calendar — which drew 2059 companies from 48 countries to the giant conference center in Berlin Sept. 1–5. Sure, there was the usual flood of upgraded headphones and updated televisions with better resolution and more battery life. But there were also some genuinely new categories of products that incorporate artificial intelligence to cook, clean or mow the lawn.

This year, Billboard is recognizing 20 products that represent the “Best of IFA” because they seem important or innovative for music lovers — even if in some cases they just offer ways to help with household tasks so their owners can spend more time sitting back and enjoying their favorite songs in style. Among them are upgraded earbuds, a truly impressive television, and some next-generation speakers and music-streaming devices. But there are also some products we’ve never seen before, like a home solar panel that doubles as an outdoor table and an oven that can help determine the best way to prepare a meal. At least now we know that if the robots do someday take over, we’ll be comfortable and well fed.
