How many rising stars can say their first collaborations were with Drake, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and Usher? 4batz can.
The 20-year-old star has tapped Usher for the official “act iv: fckin u again (18+)” remix, which will be released on Friday (July 19.) The remix arrives more than two months after 4batz dropped his debut mixtape u made me a st4r, which debuted at No. 2 on the Top R&B Albums chart. The 11-track project includes a Ye remix of “act iii: on god? (she like)” and his viral smash “act ii: date @ 8,” which received a Drake remix that catapulted the song to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in March.
One connection between the two artists is that 4batz and Usher distribute their music through gamma., with the latter launching mega alongside L.A. Reid in partnership with Larry Jackson’s media and entertainment venture. Usher’s 2024 Coming Home album was the first project released under the mega/gamma. partnership.
4batz was featured on Billboard‘s 21 Under 21 List this year. He was nominated for best new artist at the 2024 BET Awards. When asked about bucket list collaborations, he told Billboard deputy director of R&B/hip-hop on the awards show red carpet that he wanted “every legend…. legends that I look up to, we gotta get in. So anybody that’s a legend, we with it.” Considering he’s now recording alongside the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from that night, it’s safe to say he’s already locked in with the legends.
