In an age when movie stars are becoming a thing of the past and franchise I.P.s are the new movie stars, Stallone is one of the last remaining bona fide A-listers who can bring crowds to a theater based on his involvement alone. Sometimes, moviegoing audiences don’t know what they’ve got until it’s gone. It wasn’t clear just how much Stallone contributed to the fun of The Expendables franchise until he played a limited role in the fourth movie, Expend4bles, and was dearly missed.
