While a lot of TV shows steadfastly stick to their premise over the course of their run, some take another route entirely. A killer concept is vital to a successful TV series, but a concept is only as good as its execution. Breaking Bad starts with a great premise: a suburban science teacher using clandestine chemistry to pay for his expensive cancer treatment. However, had the show’s creators followed through on their original plan to kill off Jesse Pinkman in season 1, Breaking Bad’s execution could have proved disastrous.
