In hindsight, the 1990s have been a treasure trove of outlandish stories with varying levels of quality and longevity. The sci-fi genre is a volatile one, as the speed of technological advancement makes some films feel dated even shortly after their release. The “near-future” quickly becomes the past, and the lack of flying cars, self-tying shoes, and memory-wiping machines become much more evident. But, what makes a sci-fi movie stand the test of time, is its cast of memorable characters.
