Talent, entertainment, sports and advisory company UTA has launched a new Christian Music Division, led by Jonathan Roberts, who joined UTA in May. Additionally, four-time Billboard Christian Airplay chart-topper Phil Wickham recently signed with UTA and will be represented by Roberts.
UTA’s Christian music division serves as an extension of UTA’s Heartland initiative, which UTA agent Nick Barnes founded in 2020, and which will tap into the company’s vast music network and resources, spanning from music crossover to brand partnerships.
In June, UTA signed another Contemporary Christian Music luminary, Brandon Lake. Wickham and Lake are currently on their second sold-out Summer Worship Nights Tour. UTA is also home to Forrest Frank, whose debut album recently reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart.
“UTA is deeply committed to the growth of the Christian music division,” Scott Clayton, UTA partner and co-head of UTA’s music department, said. “We are leveraging the full strength of the agency, bringing together agents who are inspired by the genre and its connection with fans.”
“We are witnessing an unprecedented moment in the music industry, where Christian music is resonating with wider audiences,” Roberts added. “UTA’s roster of Christian artists reflects the growing demand for the genre and we are thrilled to be part of this exciting moment alongside these artists.”
When the Gospel Music Association revealed the Dove Awards nominations earlier this year, UTA clients earned 32 nominations. Among those nominations are Lake’s nominations for pop/contemporary album of the year for Coat of Many Colors, Wickham’s worship album of the year nomination for I Believe, and Switchfoot and Jon Bellion’s rock/contemporary album of the year nod for The Beautiful Letdown.
