Jekalyn Carr’s “You Carried Me,” featuring Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Blanca, ascends a spot to No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart dated Nov. 30. During the Nov. 8-14 tracking week, the single increased by 10% in plays, according to Luminate.
For Carr, the song, which she solely authored, marks her eighth leader on the list, and fifth in a row. It follows “I Believe God,” which dominated for two frames last October; “My Portion” (one week, 2022); “Jehovah Jireh” (two, 2021); and “Changing Your Story” (one, 2020). She earned her first No. 1 with “You’re Bigger” for four weeks in 2016.
Cobbs Leonard also pushes her total to eight Gospel Airplay No. 1s – and sixth straight, tying Jonathan McReynolds and Pastor Mike Jr. for the longest active streak. Prior to this week, she reigned with “Burdens Down” (two weeks, June); “The Moment” (two, 2023); “Gotta Believe” (one, 2022); “In Spite of Me,” featuring Ciara (one, 2021); and “You Know My Name (Live)” (one, 2019). She initially led with “Break Every Chain” for seven weeks in 2013.
Carr and Cobbs Leonard are tied for the second-most Gospel Airplay No. 1s among women since the list launched in March 2005. Tamela Mann’s 11 leaders are the most among all artists, with Kirk Franklin second (10) and James Fortune & FIYA third (nine). Carr and Cobbs Leonard are coupled for fourth place overall.
Meanwhile, for Blanca, known mainly as a Christian artist, “You Carried Me” is her rookie Gospel Airplay entry. On Christian Airplay, she has logged four top 10s.
