Jeff Garlin's exit from The Goldbergs was a long time coming, according to star Wendi McLendon-Covey. The Goldbergs season 10 kicked off having to explain Garlin's exit from the long-running series, with a voiceover confirming that Murray (Garlin), the patriarch of the family, has passed away between the seasons and the remainder of the episode deals with the ramifications of that loss. The show wrote the character off, in the wake of an HR investigation into Garlin's on-set conduct that resulted in the actor being let go from the series.
