George Miller is one of the most prolific filmmakers in history, but interestingly, his two most popular movies to date could not be more different than one another. The Australian director is, of course, best known for the Mad Max franchise, which he launched in 1979. The original Mad Max, starring Mel Gibson, served as Miller's feature film debut, and its two sequels rounded out the filmmaker's first three major film projects. That said, Miller actually got his start in the industry in the early '70s through short films.
