Children of the Corn arrived at the peak of Stephen King mania. The author’s successful debut novel Carrie had been followed by a string of bestsellers and director Brian de Palma’s successful movie adaptation of Carrie was succeeded by Stanley Kubrick’s masterful take on The Shining. By the early ‘80s, directors and producers were trying to bring all of King’s back catalog to life onscreen.
