The Mandalorian and its connected Star Wars shows have the opportunity to succeed where Netflix and Marvel TV failed with The Defenders. Although Marvel TV intended to replicate the success of the culminating team-up movie that was the first Avengers movie, the supposed climax show – The Defenders – was a lackluster project that became one of the least-watched series streaming on Netflix. It marked a turning point for the Marvel Netflix partnership, beginning the process of its decline. The relationship ultimately broke down, with the Marvel Netflix shows shut down one after another.
